Take some Time for Intentional R&R

In our fast-paced world, stress is more than just a feeling—it’s one of the leading causes of cellular oxidation, which accelerates aging and drains our energy. That’s why taking time for yourself isn't a luxury; it's a vital act of self-care.

Carving out moments to indulge in activities that bring joy and inner peace can dramatically improve your overall well-being. It enhances your ability to be present, savor life’s simple pleasures—like sipping a cup of tea or enjoying a long, undisturbed bath—and feel genuinely happy.

Going for a walk in nature releases endorphins and boosts mood.

My Weekly Ritual for Stress Relief and Serotonin Boosting

At least once a week, I schedule a ME day—a sacred space in my calendar reserved just for me. While the details may vary, these are my go-to practices to unwind and recharge:

1. Move Your Body Mindfully

I start with a brisk 30-minute walk or a light run, preferably in nature. This not only helps shake off accumulated tension but also releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones that naturally elevate mood.

2. Steam Bath Reset

Luckily, my building has a steam room, and I take full advantage of it whenever I can. A steam bath is deeply relaxing, promotes detoxification through open pores, and leaves the skin glowing. It's also excellent for easing muscle tension—especially after a cardio session.

3. Indulgent Bath Ritual

On days when I don’t use the steam room, I opt for a warm bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil and Epsom salts. I light some candles, put on calming wellness music (search "sound bath" on iTunes for a great selection), and soak for at least 30 minutes while sipping on herbal tea.

4. Digital Detox & Soul Nourishment

After my bath, I read a few spiritual or uplifting quotes. The rest of the day is screen-free—no phones, no computers. Just me, a cozy blanket, and a warm Cacao latte infused with adaptogens like, cocoa, ashwagandha and reishi to support stress resilience.

Make Space for What Restores You

This is my personal recipe for relaxation, but your version might look different—and that’s perfectly fine. Whether it’s journaling, painting, meditating or gardening, do more of what makes you feel calm, centered and whole.

Try it—and let us know how your R&R day makes you feel!
